Is There Solar Powered Clothes Dryer? (The Steve Comisar Story)
In the early 1990s, a man by the name of Steve Comisar began advertising solar-powered clothes dryers in national magazines. Customers would then receive a simple clothesline in the mail.
Though the idea never really took off, it’s still an interesting concept that could be revisited in today’s world.
Solar powered clothes dryers are a great idea in theory. They would be environmentally friendly and could potentially save customers money on their energy bills.
However, there are a few reasons why the product never really took off in the early 1990s.
Many people claim that Steve Comisar probably made an attempt to outsmart the public by marketing his idea in a way that appeared welcoming. When in reality he only sold mere clotheslines at a blown price. People who bought it after receiving the product were amused and disappointed at the same time.

Is There Solar Powered Clothes Dryer?
A solar powered clothes dryer would not only be environmentally friendly, but it would also save on energy costs.
But currently, there is no commercial production of such type of dryer that is powered by solar. The only ones available are DIY solar dryers that people are experimenting with.
There are two main types of clothes dryers: electric and gas. Electric clothes dryers use a heating element to generate heat, while gas dryers use natural gas or propane. Solar-powered clothes dryers would use the sun’s energy to generate heat, eliminating the need for electricity or fossil fuels.
However, that’s an invention that’s yet to be realized and made readily available to the public.
Thoughts
Though solar powered clothes dryers never really took off in the early 1990s, the idea is still a good one. With today’s technology, there are many ways to improve on Steve Comisar’s original “design”.
Imagine being able to store and use solar energy to power your clothes dryer instead of electricity or gas. It could be yet another milestone toward renewable energy advancement.
